Hootoksi in Mumbai as witness in the Meher Master Moos eviction case, June 2009

Shah Alam, Sunday 14 June 2009

Hootoksi left today for Mumbai to bear witness in a court case to evict an interloper, an unwelcome "guest" in her mother's apartment.  The "guest", Ms Meher Master Moos, a relative of Ma Roshan's, was allowed temporary residence in one room on humanitarian grounds. However, Moos appropriated the entire flat while Ma and Pa Pundole were living in Malaysia. After multiple attempts to entice Moos to vacate, including generous monetary offers, the Pundoles decided to take the issue to the Court in Mumbai.

Pa Noshir had traveled from Malaysia a few times to attend court hearings but with all the delays and postponements associated with India's judicial system, it took him five months to complete his deposition. Then Hootoksi's brother Kershasp had to fly in from the US and hang around in Mumbai for a whole month just for a couple of cross examinations. Now, it was Hootoksi's turn to convince the judge!

Update: 27 June 2009.

Hootoksi was back home again in two weeks. We're told that she has broken Mumbai Sessions Court speed records by completing two cross examination sessions in less than a week!
