Taj Hotel emergency notice, 1971

Bombay, 8 December 1971

Hootoksi and I were married in a civil ceremony at the Taj Mahal Hotel in Bombay. The India-Pakistan war of 1971 was raging and all of India was under blackout orders. As the Marriage Officer finished the ceremony, the hotel air raid sirens went off and we had to rush downstairs to the relative safety of the basement. We had been forewarned by this notice:
